Welcome to our website for the Rotary Club of South Queensferry's 24th Network Rail sponsored Forth Bridge Raft Race which was held at Hawes Pier, South Queensferry, EH30 9TA on Bank Holiday Sunday, 24th May, 2009.
Enjoying the spectacular views of the Forth Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge, competing teams of eight persons in inflatable white water rafts raced over a pre-determined route only a short distance offshore and in view of the many spectators who lined the promenade in support and to raise money for this year's charities, which included Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) and Queensferry Care. It is not too late to make a donation, click on the Just Giving button at the bottom of this page.
A total of sixteen teams took part in this year's race. It was good to see so many youth teams participating. The winners of the fancy dress were Dundas Castle and well done to them and to all the other teams for making the effort.
Our Rotary Club is extremely grateful for the financial support from our sponsors - Network Rail, Targe Towing, BAA and TESCO and all supporters whose details appear on the Raft Race flier, programme and elsewhere on this website. We were also delighted to be able to provide stalls for thirteen charities and local organisations free of charge. The entertainment and rides for children, all of which helped to add to the atmosphere on the day. The children's disco bus, brought buy Chaplins Disco was very popular and free to use.
The results of all the activities are now available on this site. To see the full race results, click here. For the art competition, then it is here. To see all those who were lucky enough to win raffle prizes, click here.
We have now fixed the date for next year, 23 May at 12 noon. As this will be the 25th race , why not make a special effort to put a team in.
